The Daily Star has claimed that producers are scared of the global outbreak of swine flu affecting housemates in this year’s tenth series.
Bosses are said to be drawing up emergency plans incase any of this year’s contestants are affected by the virus, which has affected 55 UK residents so far, and extra health checks have apparently been put in place to ‘limit the danger’.
A ’senior source’ told the paper: “We don’t want Big Brother to become Pig Brother.
“Candidates will be asked if they’ve been to Mexico in recent months or had contact with friends or relatives who have.
“This all is part of the detailed health check they must have to ensure they’re fit enough to last 13 weeks. The last thing we want is a contestant with swine flu infecting the whole house.”
A Channel 4 spokeswoman said that the safety of the housemates is “paramount”.
Only 30 candidates now remain in the selection process, according to the report, which reiterated that BB10 will begin on June 4th.
