bb10-launch-date-confirmed

Channel 4 has confirmed that the tenth series of Big Brother will begin on Thursday June 4th, with a 90-minute launch show.

Airing between 9.00pm and 10.35pm, the show will feature Davina McCall introducing us to this year’s housemates for the first time. It is ten minutes shorter than last year’s launch. The official synopsis is as follows:

Davina McCall presents direct from the Big Brother studios as a new group of housemates enter the Big Brother house for the very first time. Viewers see the new housemates as they share their very first moments together and settle in for what could be the most unpredictable few weeks of their lives.

Launch night schedule
9.00pm, C4: Big Brother Launch Show
10.30pm, E4: Big Brother’s Big Mouth
11.35pm, E4: Big Brother Live
11.40pm, C4: Big Brother: A Decade In The Headlines*
1.30am, C4: Big Brother’s Big Mouth*
2.30am, C4: Big Brother Live
*Repeat

The first episode of spin-off show Big Brother’s Big Mouth, which is also hosted by Davina, follows on E4 at 10.30pm, with overnight live streaming beginning at 11.35pm.

Continuing the launch night festivities, a repeat of Grace Dent-hosted documentary Big Brother: A Decade In The Headlines airs on Channel 4 at 11.40pm.

Big Mouth is then repeated on C4 at 1.30am, before live streaming between 2.30am and 4.00am.

The next day (Friday 5th), Big Brother’s Little Brother returns at 6.00pm on E4 with an hour-long special.

Despite earlier indications that live shows might air at 9pm and 10.30pm, the first highlights show will be broadcast at 9pm, with the later slot filled by an episode of The Simpsons.

The new series of 8 Out Of 10 Cats begins at 10.00pm, suggesting that evictions will keep the 9.00pm-10.00pm and 10.30pm-11.00pm timeslots they occupied last year.

More scheduling details will be announced soon.

Stick with bbspy!

Keep up with the times BB Spy!

Channel 4 told Broadcast Magazine the launch would be 4th June a couple of weeks ago.

The schedules have been confirmed today, but the decision to have the launch on 4th June was confirmed to that magazine a couple of weeks ago :) .

John says: May 20, 2009 @ 2:41 pm

Do you know what Friday’s schedule is? Is there a highlights show like last year or live show?

John says: May 20, 2009 @ 2:41 pm

Oh you updated. Highlights show. Thanks.

Az says: May 20, 2009 @ 2:47 pm

On E4 on the friday is there any afternoon live streaming?

Matt says: May 20, 2009 @ 2:48 pm

No Az, the only live feed this series will be the overnight streaming.

@John, as far as we’re concerned the launch date is not 100% confirmed until the schedules are released.

Az says: May 20, 2009 @ 2:57 pm

So not only have they got rid of the red button, but they have also axed the afternoon feed!

90 minutes … interesting. Something must definitely be happening then especially for live show 2 the next day (if true). I say that because launch shows are usually 75 minutes.

BBFan says: May 20, 2009 @ 3:03 pm

Actually just read the article properly so probably nothing on the Friday, but I still think something could be happening on launch night.

John says: May 20, 2009 @ 3:50 pm

The information BB Spy is providing is WRONG.

The launch finishes at 22:35 not 22:30.

Also why do you have Voting Figures in the article? Confused!

Brekkie says: May 20, 2009 @ 3:54 pm

Well, if you’re being pedantic John then you’re wrong. 22.35 is the time the next programme begins, not the time BB ends.

Indeed for the majority of eviction shows last year BB finished a good 5-8 minutes before it’s scheduled end.

I’m going to put my bets on 22.31.

Ron says: May 20, 2009 @ 3:56 pm

No offence, John, but if you dont like the website then don’t use it. That’s being a bit petty with the time thing. And to my knowledge it’s spelt ‘bbspy’ :)

Brekkie says: May 20, 2009 @ 3:56 pm

And at the risk of reading far too much into things and getting my hopes up, it’s interesting they say Davina is hosting from the “Big Brother studios”, rather than “house” or “compound”.

I doubt it’ll happen, but I’d love to see them shift to studio based live shows - it could be just the change they need.

lanky says: May 20, 2009 @ 3:57 pm

[Removed]… going to argue over five minutes.

The launch show will be less than the 90 minutes bbspy has quoted with ad breaks removed anyway.

John says: May 20, 2009 @ 4:17 pm

I like bbspy. I use it for the news information.

I was just trying to help out and tell them that the schedules actually say it’s up to 22:35.

Ok, maybe it will finish earlier than that time. But don’t blame me if the schedules show that time.

Alec says: May 20, 2009 @ 4:40 pm

Hi Matt, That table covers up half the article. For refrence im using IE8 with windows vista if that helps.

Alec says: May 20, 2009 @ 4:42 pm

^ never mind, ive refreshed and its all changed now, guess you already knew :)

Brekkie says: May 20, 2009 @ 5:55 pm

Good. I think Matt was just putting some extra info in so things might have looked odd for a few seconds as it was being done.

BB10 RIP says: May 20, 2009 @ 6:45 pm

Davina was right saying she is hosting from Big Brother Studios. For this series house is too and the outside as its clearly a SCRIPTED UNREALITY show given lack of live coverage IMHO. How do we know the HMs are even in the house 24/7 and that overnight video is not pre shot video on a loop ?

Dodge says: May 20, 2009 @ 7:49 pm

I hate the split eviction night shows. The 2nd show always gets crap ratings.

C4 really not helping the show or themselves.

NEW IDENTITY says: May 20, 2009 @ 8:16 pm

wow! this night sounds heavenly! even if crap casting, always exciting on the first night!

please BB make it good!

Ben says: May 20, 2009 @ 10:13 pm

Ohh yeah so they aint in for the full 93 days or so they are just in for the morning and pop onto the bus that turns up to the bus stop in garden to luxury uhhh no i dont think so they will be in for the full time !

BB10 RIP says: May 20, 2009 @ 10:20 pm

@Ben How do we know they will be there 24/7? Im not saying they wont but now very easy to let them go offsite whenever they like, reshoot scenes how production team want things etc.

Stu says: May 20, 2009 @ 11:11 pm

This is so exciting, they need some real explosive housemates to keep us hooked again.

Brekkie says: May 21, 2009 @ 12:21 am

“Day 14. 10.53am. The housemates have just had their breakfast. At Tesco.”

BB10 RIP says: May 21, 2009 @ 12:45 pm

Exactly Brekkie or how about

“Day 14 12:30. The HouseMates have Script meeting with producers as the Showmance planned hasnt worked as they want”

Edd Johnson says: May 21, 2009 @ 4:13 pm
