CBS released the details of twelve of the thirteen Housemates that will enter the Big Brother USA house on The Early Show and online Wednesday. Earlier this week the house itself was revealed during Media Day.
The house this year is described as a “mean, green, eco-friendly living machine.” This year Big Brother will make the Housemates fully aware of the amount of waste they create. The Housemates will be required to sort, recycle and place all food items in an outdoor manual compost center, as well as an indoor automatic composter.
For pictures of the House visit the official Big Brother website and watch Julie tour the new Big Brother house.
The twelve Housemates that was released are complete strangers, according to the official Big Brother website. This season Big Brother wanted Housemates that represented certain cliques that you would find in high school as part of the opening night twist.
On launch night the twelve Housemates will separate into four “cliques” that you would find in high school. The four cliques are Athletes, Populars, Brainiacs and Outcasts. The Housemates will form the cliques themselves.
When a Housemate from a clique wins Head of Household, members of the clique will be safe from nominations as the HoH can not nominate a member of their own clique. However on eviction night Housemates can vote to evict a member of their own clique if they are nominated.
“You may have graduated, but the truth is we never leave high school and this summer we are going to prove it,” said Allison Grodner, executive producer of Big Brother USA. “From the brains to the jocks to the off-beat, everyone will be able to identify to one of these cliques, giving the viewers a group to root for and against from the very beginning. The division will cause instant drama.”
On launch night a mystery 13th Housemate will be revealed. No details have been revealed about the 13th Housemate except that this Housemate will give one clique an advantage over the others. Rumors going around that the 13th Housemate may be an ex-housemate or a different ex-housemate each week until Big Brother disbands the cliques.
