Gretchen Massey, host of House Calls, has confirmed that it HAS been canceled. In her words:
Date: May 23, 2009 1:21 PM
Subject: House Calls Canceled!
Body: Just wanted everyone to know, there’s no more House Calls! They couldn’t find a sponsor and have decided not to go forward with it during this season of Big Brother.

Sorry to all our fans - I’ll miss you!

Gretchen

Billy, the reason I didn’t include that in the article above was due to the blog entry not being present on Gretchen’s Myspace when I went to go see it for myself. I generally don’t post information without a source. Now if the entry was present on her Myspace I would have included that information in my article.

How can we watch it over here? iS IT EASIER TO DOWNLOAD OR CAN YOU WATCH IT VIA YOUTUBEEEE?

Justin says: May 28, 2009 @ 5:31 am

I always preferred downloading, since it’s higher quality and much more convenient, though it’s probably easier to watch it via YouTube. It’s generally just your preference. If Veoh isn’t blocked for UK viewers, you can try that.

when i see the american big brother i just sigh. it’s crap, the logo is always crap aswell, i tried to watch it before but i just get bored. It doesn’t even compare to our much superior version with cotempory furnishing and our eye which sets the tone for the upcoming big brother series. Their opening titles are crap too!

As i’ve never seen BBUSA I have a few questions
Do the USA’s get live feed?
Is it really only 3 highlight shows a week
Who votes for the winner and how does that all work in USA?
How the fuck are they on 11 when I know they started after us??

Matt says: May 28, 2009 @ 11:08 am

@Michael:

1. Yes, there is live feed in the USA run through RealPlayer. There is a choice of four normal feeds and a splitscreen feed.

2. Yes. Each one focuses on specific events: The Sunday episode shows Food competitions, the nominations ceremony and, should the week’s HoH competition be an endurance task, HoH results. This is followed on Tuesday by the Power of Veto episode, and the Thursday live episode features evictions and HoH competitions.

3. The seven evictees that are voted out prior to the live final become the ‘Big Brother Jury’. They are moved in to a seperate house (usually in an exotic location) and have to live by Big Brother rules (no contact with the outside world etc.) This jury votes for the winner on finale night.

4. They had two seasons last year after the writers’ strike forced CBS to order the first ever winter run.

@Michael

BBUK didn’t actually start before BBUSA. BBUSA Season 1 started like 10 days before ours.

But as Matt says the reason they are on their eleventh season is because they had two seasons last year due to the Writer’s Strike.

Anyway, I can’t wait for July 9th! :D

i think bbuk producers should take a leaf out of the usa version. might be just what we need!

i used to love bb uk but in the recent years i have moved to liking bb usa more. if channel 4 were to incorporate the usa format in some way it might actually bring back viewers!

I really like the BBUSA site design!

Michael says: May 28, 2009 @ 2:56 pm

No …. I’m pretty sure ours started before USA which is why I was confused about how they were ahead in season numbers

Anyway thanks for clearing that all up…

one more question, how does nominations work?

Michael says: May 28, 2009 @ 2:59 pm

@ Myself … nevermind it did start 9 days before UK

Matt says: May 28, 2009 @ 3:14 pm

@Michael:

The HoH is given a key for every housemate. He/she locks all the keys in a special box, except the keys of the two houseguests he/she wants to nominate. He/she then gathers the other houseguests at the dining table, pulls out the first key, and passes the box along to the houseguest that they key represents, who pulls out the second key, and so on.

The two people left without keys at the end are nominated.

Then, the Power of Veto competition takes place, in which the HoH, two nominees and three other randomly picked houseguests play for the Veto.

The Veto winner then has the opportunity to save one of the nominated houseguests. If the winner of the Veto is a nominee they’re allowed to save themselves.

If one of the nominees is saved, the HoH has to nominate a replacement houseguest.

The two houseguests nominated after the Veto ceremony face the next eviction.

what channel can i watch it on where can i watch it if i live in the uk??

Buchanan says: May 29, 2009 @ 3:11 am

@Michael the reason the US is a season ahead is because Big Brother USA 9 was aired in the winter because of the writer’s strike in America. Until that point the numbers had been the same.

Josh says: May 29, 2009 @ 5:06 am

@Chris K

If you live in the UK your best bet is to watch it on YouTube or by other means ;). BBUSA only airs in the UK when BBUK isn’t on.
