An ex-housemate a day celebrates BB's birthday

Channel 4 has confirmed the plans for Big Brother’s birthday next week, culminating in a live special on Friday 17th July.

From this Sunday, one of the show’s most ‘memorable’ ex-housemates will enter the house each day and challenge one of the current housemates in a classic Big Brother task.

The news was confirmed with the following blurb:

Big Brother will be commemorating its tenth anniversary with a week of celebrations and surprises featuring the most talked-about tasks and most unforgettable housemates from the last nine years.

Each day, a memorable former housemate will challenge a current housemate at one of the most iconic tasks from the ten series of Big Brother.

BB7's Nikki Grahame is said to be the first housemate that will return, while others rumoured to be joining in the festivities include BB8 winner Brian Belo, BB1's Craig and Nick, BB3 winner Kate, BB6 bottle top Kinga and BB7 favourite Aisleyne.

The birthday week will conclude next Friday with “further surprises” unfolding during the live shows, fronted by Davina McCall.

Sounds a bit half arssed. Why are they telling us what’s gonna happen?! Where’s the suprise in that? Besides i dont think theyre trying hard enough to gain viwership or make it amazing. it’s just ‘ok’. Couldn’t they try a bit more advertising? TRY SOMETHING BLUDY DIFFERENT, INSTEAD OF THE SAME OLD SAME OLD.

I agree - I’m not as tempted to return to the show as I was before they confirmed the news.

What would save this twist - but I can’t see it happening as they haven’t got the space - is if each day the task was to stay in the house, with the losers “evicted” to a secret second house.

The twist then at the end of the week would somehow feature the losers in the secret house competing to win back their place in the house, with eviction should they fail.

What’s to stop Nikki especially spilling her guts about the outside world, I give her an hour before she starts running her mouth

They really have to think of a way to shut her up, as they didn’t have much success when she went back into BB7

One problem is the HMs likely to go in are those going in for their own need to stay in the spotlight. Nikki couldn’t care less whether or not she beat the housemates.

They need to put the competitive HMs in - the sort who get competitive over winning nothing more than a bottle of beer or something.

How do we know the producers won’t tell them to throw their tasks to move the script

I just don’t think the producers have thought this through, they must have memories like goldfish

Tickle going back into BB4 - Flopped

Nikki going back into BB7 - Disaster and a reprimand

Jade going into CBB5 - Absolute disaster and one of the many reasons BB is so castrated to this day

i dont think we can expect Nikki to be the same as she was in bb7- i think if she starts having tantrums she will know exactly what effect its having on the public so i think it might come across as a bit fake- like when she returned to the house in bb7 she had a tantrum and she walked off smerking like she new exacty what to do for the public to like her

If she in there just for the day she won’t care what the public think. Indeed as she’s only in there for a day she (and the subsequent HMs) will want to make sure they’re noticed - and hence are likely to revert to type.

No confirmation Chris, but it doesn’t look like they’ll be live. Officially the shows start on Monday, but Nikki goes in Sunday - so we’ll see Nikki on Monday night in the highlights.

I fear the Birthday surprises will be spoilt if Kris survives tonight, he must go for the good of the show, hopefully Lisa will be booted out and then new HM’s to join the decent ones (Freddie, Marcus & Siavash)to give this series a fresh start.

Looking likely the main live shows next week will just be an eviction followed by the arrival of new HMs - so same old shit as ever really.

So disappointing - but heck, I really shouldn’t have expected any more from producers who can’t count to ten!
