Sharon Powers, executive producer of Big Brother 10, has said that broadcaster Channel 4 are ‘happy’ with the show.
Her comments come amid rumours that the show is heading for the axe after due to the large drop in ratings that this year’s series has seen, with press and media interest at an all-time low.
Talking to Broadcast magazine, she said: “Channel 4 tells us it’s happy and all we can do is make the programme as good as it possibly can be.
” There’s a danger if you focus too much on who you think you’re making the programme for and you try to skew it.
“When we go on air, we have a plan for virtually every week of the series, but we have to be flexible and will drop things and react to what’s going on.”
Powers added that plans for next year’s eleventh series - which is the last in the current contract between C4 and makers Endemol - are already underway.
She said: “We’ve already started thinking about BB11 and whether we should audition people in a different way.”
Earlier, Endemol UK’s chief executive Tim Hincks said he believes BB’s long-term health is ’strong’.
Meanwhile, Broadcast have also revealed that Big Brother has ‘maintained staff levels’ this year, despite a number of cutbacks, most notably the axing of the 24-hour live feed.
Head of production Petrina Good said: “It’s a monster of an operation and we can’t scale back.”
