Big Brother presenter Davina McCall’s position on the show is in jeopardy after she claimed it would be axed next year, according to the Daily Star.
TV chiefs are said to be fuming after McCall allegedly said the show, which has been on air since 2000, only has ‘two years left’. The quote was published in yesterday’s edition of The Sun.
One boss said: “Since when did Davina appoint herself commissioning editor of Channel 4? Big Brother is not going away. It’s one of C4’s flagship shows.”
Channel 4’s current contract with show producers Endemol runs out next year after the eleventh series. The deal also includes one more celebrity special.
A spokeswoman for the broadcaster said: “We have two years left on our current contract and it is far too early to speculate on new negotiations.”
Meanwhile, the Star suggested in the same article that BB10 will now begin on Thursday June 4th. They had previously said it would begin on the 3rd.
