There was definitely something resembling an eye flash. It was black with a purple spinning 3D object with a pinkish light shining on it and lasted just under a second. There won’t be another till after the racing, different audience.

Ben, neither did the first few flashes last year. We only knew they were flashes because they were red and black lol.

Abstract black and purple flash hits the screen

Several reports of an eye flash on Channel 4 have surfaced, though there is a lot of debate at the subtlety of its visuals.

Shortly after 1.30pm on Channel 4, the eye flash aired first, before an episode of Scrubs.

It has been reported as a black and purple 3D string, similar the BB7 campaign, but very abstract. Featuring a closeup of the centre of the eye upside down, spinning on a black background, it is reportedly purple with a pink light.

Like last year, which began with shards of glass flying around, it was not at all distinguishable as the BB10 eye. It’s possible the campaign is designed to confuse viewers and not make it obvious, so they ask questions about the strange visuals. is that this one ? i found on another website it said that

Fancy graphics do help though Brekkie, look at the ratings for BB7 and 8’s launches and they had some of the best ads. I don’t think it’ll match them but if the campaign is intriguing enough and makes use of the slogans ‘it’s not what you expect it to be’ and ‘get ready..’ I think they could match CBB.

Brekkie, having no idea about the link is the reason why people will watch. As Digital Sid has said there is a new tagline this year, we’ve not had one of those for a while. If they have ‘odd’ adverts and at the end of the advert they have “Big Brother 2009: The Launch Show, Thursday at 9pm on 4. It isn’t what you expect it to be” then they could be looking at beating last years launch ratings due to “what is all that about?” A successful advertising campaign doesn’t necessarily have to be something like Black Friday.

If they are serious about the show (as fans confidence isn’t great atm) then they’ll fork out for a few ads during BGT.

so when will we start getting longer adverts?

We got longer, musical flashes 4 days later last year and the first full ad around 5 days after them.

This has really got me wondering something which i don’t want to say,but if it happens i think BB10 could be amazing,the eye flashes are very BB7 which is my fave series out of all of them,so i think there amazing.

Wow..very disappointed. I was expecting something much better for the show’s tenth series, but at least it’s something right? I don’t get how the blocks tie in with the thumbprint design for the eye logo, but I think the longer ads will be much more easily interpretive.

In all honesty. They are crap.

They aren’t even recognisable as a Big Brother advert - Therefore this is not promoting the show.

There will be some people wondering what they are all about though creating a bit of mystery for when a similar longer advert later comes out and all becomes clear

With some of the BB9 eye flashes it was impossible to tell they are BB related.

Are these even BB10 flashes i cant see alot of resemblance could be for any program IMO !!

ok im a dedicated BB FAN and i really do not see a link so how is a new fan who may have never seen BB before know that them flashes are to do with BB ? they just wouldn’t so its bad production really if they want new people to watch BB .

Plus lets not forget eye flashes are NOT adverts, they are just stings breaking up the adverts on Channel 4. Lets wait until the real adverts first.

I actually think there is a big point to them being ambiguous. If people who don’t watch BB see the ads and wonder what the sting is for then they will spend some time thinking about it… and when the ads get longer and reveal its for BB they may even decide to give it a shot (for launch night at least).

yeah stings even stings need to resemble somet i see a sting and im not like oohhh whats that about . i just ignore em and continue watching the adverts and the program . it would be better the stings if they had a noise with them thats connected with BB10 UK

Brekkie you’re wrong. People will wonder what the funny purple shapes that keep coming on Channel 4 are to do with, and when they see a longer advert all will become clear and they’ll wonder why its different; different show this year? “It isn’t what you expect it to be”.

They could be taking a different approach this year. Lets see where they take it before we pass comment on whether it is successful or going to work.

So getting mystery around it isn’t a good move? The adverts won’t start properly yet for about a week, plus we don’t know if we’re getting extended eye flashes with music this year, where people will know that Big Brother is coming and its what the purple flashes were all about. Why are they like that? it is creating mystery. We moan at Channel 4 when they don’t do anything different, and when there is possibility that they’re taking the marketing in a new direction we’re still moaning!!

As I said criticise the campaign once its over and you can see where they’ve taken it, you’ve got no grounds to say there will be no hype created and I know that everything will slot into place shortly.

Just because they haven’t got people dancing next to a coffin doesn’t mean it won’t be a different or successful campaign.

Brekkie, you could not be any more wrong! People wont think any thing when they see the 1 SECOND advert, simply because as the advert airs in the advert time slot where adverts are normally aired, people will just think that their is something being advertised that is in the early stages of advertisement! Further more, people wont think that their is anything wrong with their TV’s as if an advert before has aired ok and the ones after have aired ok, then people wont think any thing of the 1 SECOND adverts!

Also, recently when reading your comments and views, its become that you are either trying to cause a big debate about what you say (which you have dont with me now) or you just dislike Big Brother, well what ever it is > it’s quite annoying to read your comments when this is the first advertisement that C4 have done!

I agree Steve. Brekkie’s comments seem to be trying to dampen any potential positive development and it is coming across as a strong dislike for the program now.

Maybe they don’t even advertise BB? I mean, last year they were clearly an eye or a promo for the ninth series, but this year they’re just shiny blocks - I think we shouldn’t assume they’re for BB until we have more promos!

I think them eye flashes are really interesting tbh. Only because, when i seen them, i thought “What the hell” but, they are very catchy, and it looks nothing like big brother, so as time goes by, the adverts get longer, and viewers will see, that its Big Brother. Every year, they have always flashed the new eye on TV straight away! And this year, its like a progression! And i like it! ALOT!!

The eye thing : HOUSEMATES on Big Brother 10 will be under the thumb this summer.

The show’s new eye logo is black, blue and purple and looks just like a crime scene thumbprint.

Fans are in a frenzy about the hidden meaning behind the motif.

Some think there will be an “identity” theme to the show, believing one housemate could be hiding their true identity.

Logo designer Daniel Eatock said: “It is based on a thumbprint, but is it Big Brother’s thumbprint? Or a housemate’s thumb print?”

The show starts on June 4 and runs for 13 weeks.
