first-full-advert-airs

The first full advert for Big Brother 10 debuted on Channel 4 this evening, just before Bear Grylls: Born Survivor.

The 20-second long advert is made up of the typical moving 3D black blocks and coloured glows that have featured in the previous adverts, as well as a voiceover from Big Brother narrator Marcus Bentley.

You can see the new promo here:

BB10 launches on Thursday June 4th at 9.00pm on Channel 4.

Stick with bbspy!

Brekkie says: May 23, 2009 @ 8:36 pm

Although I’m sure it looks great, we all know the ad campaign needs to be more than flashy graphics and actually give a reason to watch.

Steve says: May 23, 2009 @ 8:40 pm

Brekkie, you are right on that one! After seeing the USA advert a couple of days ago, my perspective of UK - BB adverts have changed, the UK BB try to make their adverts mysterious, where as USA are more louder and to the point!

Fenn says: May 23, 2009 @ 8:44 pm

I prefer the uk ones to the u.s ones. Its More Thrilling

I must admit I had my doubts, but bbspy came through. Excellent work.

Steve says: May 23, 2009 @ 8:44 pm

But I do like the new one, its so future like!

Aled says: May 23, 2009 @ 8:52 pm

I now have a really bad feeling taht yet again this year the ad campaign will be little more than these eye graphics that have become common place every year, COME ON! Try a bit harded Big bro!

Brian says: May 23, 2009 @ 8:57 pm

There was a House teaser tooo was there not`

Brekkie says: May 23, 2009 @ 8:58 pm

I’m 50/50 on this one. The first 10 seconds look and sound great - fresh and rather mysterious - but then the final 10 seconds are same old, same old - same theme, Marcus’s voice and I think a rather poor resolve of the eye.

Alec says: May 23, 2009 @ 9:45 pm

A MASSIVE thanks bbspy for all the videos. Ive embedded them, but have gave you full credits.

Thanks again Matt!

Steve says: May 23, 2009 @ 9:49 pm

Alec what is your site?

Alec says: May 23, 2009 @ 9:53 pm

I dont know if im allowed due to advertising but im sure bbspy will take it off if they feel they dont want it on.

Matt, will you be putting URL back into the name links? if you don’t like people posting links to their site?

You said you would on the last site? :D

Steve says: May 23, 2009 @ 10:22 pm

Alec, is it a piczo site?

lanky says: May 23, 2009 @ 10:34 pm

Well done again bbspy for another superbly quick advert capture.

I love the ads this year. They’re brilliant.

BBFan says: May 23, 2009 @ 10:35 pm

I actually disagree that fancy graphics will get viewers to watch. Although it is the same, these seem quite mysterious and people might be inclined to watch. There is also no doubt about it that these are the best produced adverts since BB7/8 and psychology plays a rather large part; if something is produced well, then it suggests its ‘good’. If viewers think it is subliminally ‘good’, regardless of what they thought of BB in the past then they might watch. Paired with absolutely no competition at all (Calendar Girls Documentary, something about self harm, Taggart and something on five that won’t get over 2m anyway) then I think they’re heading to beat last years launch of 5.4m.

What people forget is the launch figures are always really similar anyway. They’re usually 6m give or take a few hundred thousand, with BB7 being the exception.

Brekkie says: May 23, 2009 @ 10:56 pm

I just think to the casual viewer they’ll kind of think…

“Oh, what’s this…”

“Oh, it’s Big Brother”.

And then the ad looses their attention. The ads need to be more “Oooooh, it’s Big Brother”.

It doesn’t have to be anything clever at all - and considering they’re insisting on celebrating their 10th birthday a year early simply using clips of key moments from previous series could remind the casual viewer of what they loved about the show in the past, and intrigue them enough to watch again in the future.

After all, “best bits” is something BB do very well. They even made BB8 look good.

Michael says: May 23, 2009 @ 11:48 pm

^ Yeah for BB8 clips just show Seany pushing Charlea in the Pull about 3 times!

Alec says: May 24, 2009 @ 3:13 am

Hi Steve, no its a proper site like this (not as good). With own name and hosting. *TotalBigBrother*

NEW IDENTITY says: May 24, 2009 @ 5:27 am

oh my god! exciting! and dark, mysterious!

identity… maze… future

am i getting too excitied about the possible messages for their theme!?

please i hope it’s a new beginning!

but this advert rocks!

it’s orgasmic!

Wayne says: May 24, 2009 @ 7:06 am

Must b time soon then.. has the guinea pig run been done yet?

Andy says: May 24, 2009 @ 10:02 am

i am loving this ad! I agree with some messages though- the advert needs to attract those people who have gone off big brother back to watching. They should put more emphasis on bb being 10, maybe promote the programme as a massive summer-long birthday party! That will definately get old viewers back. they should also show very short clips of the best moments of the last decade to remind people why it is still worth watching.

Brian says: May 24, 2009 @ 11:31 am

An add has just came on saying 10 days!! i was in the bathroom and heard it

Ryan says: May 24, 2009 @ 12:40 pm

Jonny Boy says: May 24, 2009 @ 1:56 pm

Guys! Ive gotta say! This is the best advert Big Brother has ever made! Its wiked and i really love it! The graphics are fantastic and i think all the sounds and everything are a perfect match! I think Big Brother is gonna be back to its normal self. And with some of the noise’s, they sound weird and mysterious, this advert makes me so excited! Cant wait for the house revealing ones :D:D

Tom Brown says: May 24, 2009 @ 1:56 pm

On channel4.com/bigbrother it now says “10 days to go!”

Ben says: May 24, 2009 @ 3:19 pm
