In, out, in, out, shake it all about...
live-housemate-hokey-cokey

It’s time to say goodbye to either Dogface, Karly, Noirin or Siavash, and hello to five new faces. Here’s our live coverage of tonight’s shows…

Davina will front the action as usual at 9pm and 10.30pm. We’ll be providing minute by minute updates of everything as it happens, so keep refreshing for our latest posts, which appear at the bottom of the list.

Oh, and remember to let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

First show updates [Show]
 • 9.58pm: Join us for more live updates in half an hour!
 • 10.20pm: “Well the housemates, you know, they’re sitting pretty for eviction night, but in here there’s an ugly rumour that some brand new housemates are about to be dropped on them,” says Davina as she plugs BB.
 • 10.36pm: “In a few moments five new housemates are going to move in followed by a whopping sting in the tail!” - Davina opens the second show.
 • 10.37pm: Davina reminds us what’s happening.
 • 10.37pm: Davina says “Hold on, itchy ankle” and adjusts her shoes as the crowd cheers.
 • 10.37pm: The seventeenth housemate is Kenneth, a 24-year-old self-employed ‘international playboy’. He is Karly’s boyfriend.
 • 10.39pm: Kenneth hates the term ‘gameplan’ and his favourite food is caviar. He thinks hell is Glasgow and is disgusted by smokers. Yet he’s Karly’s boyfriend…
 • 10.40pm: Kenneth enters the house and heads down the stairs. He heads out to the lounge to meet the other housemates.
 • 10.40pm: Karly greets Kenneth with screams of “whit ya’ daein!” as he meets the others for the first time.
 • 10.41pm: New housemate number 2 is Bea, a 24-year-old Bohemian recruitment consultant.
 • 10.42pm: Bea leaves her car and heads up the catwalk as she is cheered.
 • 10.43pm: Bea is offended by science fiction. She has been fired from every job she has ever had. The most insulting thing anyone could say to her is “I have that dress!”
 • 10.43pm: Bea heads in to the house and down the stairs.
 • 10.43pm: She heads out to the lounge to meet the other excited housemates. Charlie immediately gives her a hug.
 • 10.44pm: Davina reminds us that some of the housemates met during the audition process.
 • 10.44pm: Housemate number nineteen is 28-year-old David, a gay ‘recycled clothes sorter’.
 • 10.46pm: David recieves a mix of cheers and boos as he leaves his car.
 • 10.46pm: People say he looks like a mix of Greg Rusedski and Tom Cruise. He goes to bingo twice a week with his 80-year-old friend Doris.
 • 10.46pm: David heads through the front door and makes his way to the lounge.
 • 10.48pm: The twentieth housemate of Big Brother 2009 is Hira, a 25-year-old Muslim fashion designer.
 • 10.49pm: Hira is being booed before she’s even out of the car.
 • 10.49pm: She calls herself a socialist. She has a husband, and he’s her cousin. She says she’s half-vegetarian and eats chicken once or twice a week. She hates staying up late and her worst nightmare is to be locked in a room with dogs.
 • 10.50pm: Hira makes her way into the house having faced chants of ‘off’ from the crowd.
 • 10.51pm: Hira enters the lounge and is immediately greeted by Noirin.
 • 10.51pm: Davina comes out of a portaloo and tells us it’s time for new housemate number five.
 • 10.51pm: 27-year-old chartered surveyor Tom is the final new housemate, and the twenty-first overall.
 • 10.52pm: Tom is heckled by the crowd as he makes his way in
 • 10.52pm: The credit crunch makes Tom angry and his family says he is the prodigal son. He goes to midnight mass to meet people and says life is a good book, so make it interesting for the reader. He attracts older women. The thing that makes him cringe is seeing himself on camera.
 • 10.53pm: Tom is now in and making his way to the lounge.
 • 10.54pm: Tom greets the others for the first time.
 • 10.54pm: Davina reminds us who the new housemates are and tells us to join her for the seventh eviction after the break.
 • Commercial break
 • 10.58pm: Davina is in the studio as she welcomes us back to the show. It’s eviction time!
 • 10.59pm: She is now talking to the house.
 • 10.59pm: The seventh person to be evicted from the Big Brother house is Karly.
 • 11.00pm: Karly is shocked as the housemates berate BB for sending in her boyfriend as she is evicted. She is given 30 seconds to say her goodbyes.
 • 11.00pm: The housemates see Karly out of the lounge as she heads for the front door.
 • 11.01pm: Karly leaves the house to a half-cheering, half-booing crowd.
 • 11.02pm: She meets Davina and grabs the hands of crowd members before Davina leads her for her press pictures.
 • 11.02pm: Davina will talk to Karly after the break.
 • Commercial break
 • 11.07pm: Davina welcomes us back to the show and introduces Karly to guests Kathy Burke and Judi James.
 • 11.08pm: Davina is quizzing her over the obvious discussion topic - being evicted as her boyfriend entered.
 • 11.11pm: Kathy is explaining that it was her friendship with Lisa that was her downfall in the house. Judi agrees.
 • 11.12pm: We’ll have highlights of Karly’s interview up later.
 • 11.16pm: The talk turns to Marcus. Karly calls him a ‘disgusting grotty pig’ and mentions his ‘vulgarity’, before Davina mentions that she is the ‘Most Scottish’ housemate ever.
 • 11.17pm: A VT plays showing clips of her Scottishness.
 • 11.19pm: Kathy says she wants Siavash to win before Karly is shown her best bits.
 • 11.21pm: Davina thanks Karly and her guests before saying that Big Brother will be spoiling the newbie’s fun after the break. What could that mean?
 • Commercial break
 • 11.25pm: Davina welcomes us back and tells that one newbie is in for a shock. She hands over to Big Brother.
 • 11.26pm: Big Brother calls one new housemate to the Diary Room. Hira and Kenneth race to get there and Hira wins. She fawns over her nails before Big Brother tells her to slide the door open.
 • 11.27pm: She sits down in front of an odd-looking contraption filled with balls.
 • 11.28pm: Big Brother tells her some bad news - her and the other newbies are up for eviction. The only way they can save theirselves is to complete a group secret mission.
 • 11.29pm: The box contains a ball, one representing each current original housemate. She must pick two names out and get them nominated next week to save themselves.
 • 11.30pm: Hira puts her hand in and mixes the ball. The first name she picks out is Halfwit.
 • 11.31pm: The second housemate she picks is Noirin.
 • 11.31pm: To clarify, the new housemates must get Halfwit and Noirin nominated. Hira must tell them about this but cannot inform any of the original housemates. The quintet must also observe the rules regarding nominations whilst carrying out their missions.
 • 11.32pm: Only original housemates will nominate next week and they cannot nominate the newbies.
 • 11.33pm: Hira is asking questions about the mission which Big Brother is not answering . She is told to leave the Diary Room with a hamper but could not find the hamper.
 • 11.34pm: The others immediately suss she’s got a task.
 • 11.35pm: Davina rounds off the show as it cuts to live feed. Charlie says that Hira has been given a secret mission in a Marcus Bentley-style forced accent.
 • 11.35pm: The credits roll and the show ends. Thanks for following our live updates tonight - switch over to E4 now for Big Brother’s Big Mouth!

Hello :]

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 8:30 pm

Good evening, hope you’ve all voted to bring to an end evil slug lookalike Lisa’s reign of terror!

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 8:44 pm

Yeasss

Nathan says: July 17, 2009 @ 8:45 pm

Considering they said “more surprises”, there’s obviously something we don’t know yet involving these 5 newbies… and I can’t wait!

Andy says: July 17, 2009 @ 8:49 pm

*Fingers crossed for secret house next door, which hopefully is decorated better than the original house* ;]
(that bloody star trek room is a shambles)

Matt says: July 17, 2009 @ 8:55 pm

I’m hoping Big Brother has some big tricks up his sleeve for tonight…

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 8:56 pm

Yes Andy I agree, always said it is design orientated than practicality! Also, I hate those giant insect things on the doors, their hideous.

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 8:57 pm

One trick I don’t want is for the evicted housemate to gain control of the house from a secret room.

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 9:11 pm

it sounds that there is somethin more interestin planned with the housemates goin in BEFORE the eviction

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 9:13 pm

although ziggy entered before shabnam’s eviction and nothin much happened then

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 9:30 pm

so what does everyone want the new housemates to be like? another big-boobed blonde? or someone more interlectual like eugene lol?

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 9:37 pm

ok this is good! thank goodness they aren’t wastin the opportunity - thanks Dan!

Dan says: July 17, 2009 @ 9:38 pm

nope prob

Anthony says: July 17, 2009 @ 9:54 pm

BORIN should go but Karly is out

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:00 pm

That Rodrigo is not right in the head, he actually laughs with Charlie going along with the joke and just snaps and turns nasty within a microsecond and does something outrageous, he has got to go!

Brekkie says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:01 pm

Well this is a rubbish birthday party.

Anyone for crumpets?

Dan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:02 pm

what do you all think of the twist

Brekkie says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:03 pm

9.00pm Big Brother

It’s the eviction night of Big Brother 10… And in the week of its tenth anniversary, you can be sure that Big Brother will have a whole host of extravagant surprises in stall for housemates and viewers.

… So burgers and a packet or two of fags obviously count as “extravagant surprises”

We’re told to expect “shocking turns” and “unexpected excitement” later.

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:04 pm

@ AlanC:

Ziggy entered on the week before the Shabnam V Emily eviction, which was cancellced due to Emily’s removal from the House

Aled says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:05 pm

the twist stated in that link sounds good but im secretly hoping for a secret house and a bigger twist! (false hope though i think, wouldnt be suprised if there wasnt any twist afterall.)

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:06 pm

Oh Bekkie please get with the spirit of the occasion and chill man!

Brekkie says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:11 pm

The twists are too little too late - but most of all completely unpromoted. That first show did nothing to entice me to stay and watch the second.

Davina could have hinted that the newbies might be familiar to some of the HMs and that the new HMs will have to get the old HMs to do their dirty work or something.

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:13 pm

@ Ivan:
yer ur probably right but im sure it was that setup for 1 of the evictions.

i think the twist could be bigger and better if they really thought about it- but i’m happy somethin is happenin

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:13 pm

No they are not too little too late, we are not even half way through this series, and in previous series the winning HM ended up winning, remember Brian Belo?

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:14 pm

btw who is kathy burke?

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:15 pm

sorry typing too fast my last comment didn’t make much sense, what I meant was Brian was one of the mid-way series HM’s and he ended up winning.

Brekkie says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:16 pm

funnily enough, the winning HM does tend to win!

for the first time in years they’ve hyped up these shows - but it’s one of the worst twists in BB history.

no point at all sending in a HM with a connection to someone who’ll be evicted in the same show, a twist which affects the show for 10 minutes, rather than the days and weeks ahead.

Brekkie says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:17 pm

AndyC - next you’ll be telling me you didn’t get Davina’s “happiness” line.

Kathy Burke is one of the finest comedy actresses this country has ever produced, and was a massive fan of the show in BB1, sending a message to Anna when she was evicted.

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:20 pm

I am actually surprised that Karly has a boyfriend, no-one in their right mind would go out with such a miserable cow!

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:20 pm

oh ok thanks i just googled her and i recognise her- a much better guest than dom jolly and the one from All saints!!!

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:22 pm

Apprently there is a shocking twist coming up!

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:30 pm

i hope these surprises they keep on mentioning is for us and not just the housemates

Brekkie says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:31 pm

the only “shocking” they do nowadays is electrocution!

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:34 pm

Lol, Brekkie.

Well AndyC, if it’s a shock to them, we’re obviously going to see it, so it’ll probably shock us too! lmao

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:36 pm

STING IN THE TAIL looks promising!!!

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:37 pm

karly’s boyfriend!?!?!

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:38 pm

but she’s gonna get the boot!

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:38 pm

KARLY’S BF???????????????????

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:42 pm

It’s a fcukin’ fix!

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:43 pm

Ara here…

Steven says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:43 pm

karly will get evicted, but noirein shud go.

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:43 pm

lol it might be stu but if it is its just to make it interestin. i like bea!

Steven says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:45 pm

i dont like that new guy -.-

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:46 pm

Not another gay!?….

Steven says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:48 pm

wth there related, shes married to a relative :S

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:49 pm

her husbands her cousin?!?!

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:54 pm

good housemates imo!

ryan.b says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:56 pm

COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING MORE INTERESTING FOR 10TH BIRTHDAY TO END IT OFF SECRET HOUSE LIKE ONES FROM THE PAST BB’S or decorated the place e.g. outside woith banners and balloons as it is the tenth birthday or made a bit more of it tbh..or done another task where a new one is booted out straight away!

Aled says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:57 pm

absolutley gutted. karly’s so gna go tonight but im gutted now cause she should stay in! i wanna see what she’d be like with him in there! they dont look like any 2 people i’d put together in a couple!?! REAALLY REALLY REALLY WISHING FOR SOME SHOCK (GOOD) TWIST!

Dan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:57 pm

fantastic housemates best new-commers in a very long time - have bb have got something very right for once!

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 10:59 pm

A younger Marcus, can see them battling over Noirin.

And the reason they put the new HM’s in before the eviction is because they knew Karly was going and they wanted her to see her boyfriend first, IMO.

So she’s deffo a gonner.

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:00 pm

yer i want karly to stay too now. there is absolutely no way that i would go in without doing the whole audition process. Karly’s boyfriend will walk now!

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:01 pm

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS KARLY GONE!!!!!

Lewis [*-*] says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:05 pm

Hmm… A interview doesn’t take 25 minutes, there has to be 5-10 minutes at the end where something happens.

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:06 pm

We certainly got one over BB who tried to fix it for Karly to stay, they edited her this week to make her look good but we weren’t havin’ it, they were desperate for her to stay coz of the boyfriend going in.

BB took a risk and it was a spectactular flop!

Dan says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:11 pm

great night so far - the right person has gone, we have 5 great new housemates, now all we need is a big twist at the end

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:18 pm

Fingers crossed eh?

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:19 pm

wow 15 mins left and its the end of the interview!

Dan says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:20 pm

fantastic andy

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:23 pm

Whoo another twist!

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:34 pm

lol she is one confused housemate! and now she has just revealed she has got a task! GREAT!

Frankie says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:35 pm

God people are never pleased with what big brother pull out of the hat. well i think its the best secret twist ever!

Aled says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:36 pm

erm kinda disappointed i really wanted something bigger but ah well! i guess this is still good!

anyone else find Hira hilarious she totally didnt understand what she had to do! and big brother wasnt answearing her!

Aled says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:38 pm

Frankie big bro have done so much better things! It sometimes just seems like half arssed attempts nowadays.

Dan says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:39 pm

i agree frankie. its been a good night i think
carly has gone
we have 5 great new housemates
and a great new secret task

hopefully ratings should should go up a bit

Stu says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:39 pm

The new housemates are a bunch of horrors, surely they could have got a better lot than these ugly mingers.

AndyC says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:41 pm

lol frankie no i am pleased i think its really good- its just it will be alot better if hira wasnt given the task i can see it just sinkin and leading to nothing

Frankie says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:47 pm

yay! its been brilliant

Brekkie says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:50 pm

Absolutely disgusting how Hira was treated by the crowd - there wasn’t a single thing in her VT which warranted that response.

The fans are sick of this booing nonsense - considering the HMs are pulled up over every minor thing, it’s about time producers did something about the unacceptable behaviour of the Elstree mob.

As live shows go, it wasn’t badly put together really, but so pointless having a relationship twist which lasts 20-minutes, and as always, everything was poorly promoted. I imagine they’ll be a huge switch off once Karly’s eviction was announced because there was no indication something would happen at the end of the show.

And once again, they put too much emphasis on highlights on eviction night. The newbies could have been sent in during the first show, and then the eviction and twist played out in a regular half hour show.

It’s so annoying that every bloody week they think we need to know everything about the Thursday before the eviction - except for the final week, when viewers actually want to see what happened the day before and the day off the final, and all we get is about 10 minutes!

Ivan says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:54 pm

I’m loving Hira she’s so funny! I think she could give Halfwit a run for his money!

chanel says: July 17, 2009 @ 11:58 pm

Hello tom! (=

Richie says: July 18, 2009 @ 2:29 am

Tom - Will probably get to the final because of the ‘he iz well fit innit’ vote

Hira - A combination of Nikki and Jade I reckon, could grate and probably out long before the end but agreed she did not deserve that booing when she was going in

David - Will be quickly recruited to Team Lisa I feel and make up for Karly’s eviction

Ken - Another recruit for Team Lisa in the future

Bea - Barmy but has got potential, I reckon she will be a finalist but will fall short, top 4 or 5 I reckon

Overall am slightly underwhelmed by these newbies as half the current lot knew some of them straight away

And I don’t think I was the only one getting cheesed off with Hira’s stupidity in having the secret mission explained to her over and over again

Brekkie says: July 18, 2009 @ 11:41 am

Hira was rather dumb wasn’t she - but to be fair Big Brother didn’t explain himself as clearly as he could have either.
