Live show on Sunday night

The full schedule for the first week has now been confirmed by C4, with an extended episode on Sunday night and highlights fixed at 10pm from Monday to Thursday.

Davina will front the special 100-minute edition of Big Brother, airing at 10.00pm on Sunday 7th June:

Davina McCall hosts a special show direct from the house as Big Brother reveals some surprises that could send shockwaves through the house. How do the housemates cope with life under Big Brother’s rules?

Exec Prod: Sharon Powers; Series Editors: Adam Barry, Daniel Marlowe, Katy Smith; Prod Co: Brighter Pictures (an Endemol company)

In a last minute decision, Big Brother was rescheduled to 10pm to avoid clashing with the final of The Apprentice, which has been bought forward to Sunday.   It is possible it will still clash with the follow up programme, The Apprentice: You’re Hired.

Originally the Sunday night special had been due to air in two parts, accompanying Alan Carr’s new Sunday night chat show, which has now been pulled.

Nightly Shows

The nightly highlights show will air on Saturday at 9pm, and then in a fixed 10pm slot from Monday to Thursday.

C4 listings confirm the first housemate to be “publicly evicted” will leave the house on Friday 12th June, with the live eviction shows occupying the same slots as last year, with an hour-long show at 9pm, followed by a 30-minute show at 10.35pm.

C4 will also be screening a couple of hours of live streaming in the early hours of the morning, plus repeating Big Brother’s Little Brother and the previous nights highlights show in it’s breakfast schedules.

First Week Schedule

Thursday 4th June: 9.00-10.35pm (Launch Show)
Friday 5th June: 9.00-10.00pm
Saturday 6th June: 9.00-10.00pm
Sunday 7th June: 10.00-11.40pm (Special show)
Monday - Thursday: 10.00-11.05pm
Friday 12th June: 9.00-10.00pm and 10.35-11.10pm

Over on E4

Big Brother’s Little Brother remains in it’s 6pm weeknight slot over on E4, with a repeat the next day at 1pm.    Extended hour-long editions air on Tuesdays and Fridays, along with the usual Sunday afternoon episode which airs on T4 at 1pm, with a repeat screening at 3.05pm on E4.

As previously announced, Big Mouth has been cut back to just a single hour-long episode each week, fronted by Davina herself.   The first episode airs immediately after the launch show on Thursday 4th June, with subsequent episodes airing on Friday nights folowing the eviction show.

E4 will also carry live streaming overnight, but the daytime slots and the 24/7 red button feed have been axed for this series.

In theory is should perform better at 10pm because BBC1 and ITV1 are just screening the news.

10pm is also the traditional home of BB, and where it remained from the second half of BB1 through to BB6.

James Dean, I go school to, but I prefer having BB at 10 again.
That way, it’s out of the 9pm primetime, where the viewing figures would be lower.

Big problem with the 10-11:40pm special. Its on way too late.
People would be at school the next day, (well i wont nor will all the 16 year olds as we would be on GCSE study leave) but the younger viewers that may watch it, and adults going to work early the next day.

Remember what happened in CBB6 one that finished at about that time… it got 1.9m (the 2nd lowest rating ever).

What’s up with the youth of today. In my day we had to stay up past 11pm to see anything decent on TV.

OMG, ive been watching big brother for year and never felt it was on too late. come on grow a pair and suck it up, you cant change the Channel 4 schedule by moaning, its hardy that late. there isnt a big brother special every night, one late night wont kill you.

Scott says: May 27, 2009 @ 3:35 pm

I much preferred the highlights show to be on @ 9pm, bcos 10pm is far too late as is the sunday night special as I have an AS level exam the next morning, it is so not fair !!! :-(, and whats happened to the live streaming, there was a time u could watch the housemates 24/7. i think C4 has been a bit stingy with their scheduling this year !!!!

Aled says: May 27, 2009 @ 3:42 pm

It’s been annoying me for years now when the show is pushed from 9pm to 10pm! Making me wait an hour later every night! And im way too knackered at that time to conentrate! grrrrrrrrrr!

Nibblo says: May 27, 2009 @ 3:58 pm

Hate to say it but Big Brother is described as an adult show. It is intended for 18+. Maybe you should ask your parents for Sky+ and record it if its a problem. I prefer late night shows because theres nothing really on past 10pm

Andy says: May 27, 2009 @ 4:02 pm

I’m glad its on at 10pm it means i can carry on watching The Apprentice on wednesdays to the end! woooooooop!

Dan! says: May 27, 2009 @ 4:47 pm

Oh come on big brother we usually hav house pics by now. Maybe they want to keep it secret till luanch. :(

Brekkie says: May 27, 2009 @ 5:13 pm

Andy - it’s The Apprentice which caused the last minute scheduling change - they’ve moved the final to Sunday.

Ryan says: May 27, 2009 @ 5:15 pm

Frankie says: May 27, 2009 @ 6:11 pm

ryan.b says: May 27, 2009 @ 8:44 pm

going off track but mentioning it whilst its in my mind why do CHANNEL 4 show PRE BBE ADVERTS in 3D but wen it comes to launch night the TITLES and Graphics are not 3D! 3D looks BETTER!!

Brekkie says: May 27, 2009 @ 9:15 pm

I agree Ryan - usually the eye looks better in the promo than the titles, though I’d say last year was an exception.

This year’s promos though could make excellent titles.

Talking of adverts though, I hope after the launch show they really do push this live show, as in the past they’ve often not been advertised at all on C4 until a few hours before it.

mayflower says: May 28, 2009 @ 10:02 am

im very excited at the moment. we usually have house pics by now, so it will be amazing if they dont get released until the housemates enter the household of fortune!

Dan! says: May 28, 2009 @ 6:35 pm

If they do tht it would make the tour more exiting.

Bell says: June 2, 2009 @ 8:44 pm

Im going to have to watch it on replay every night then. Typical.

Laura C says: June 8, 2009 @ 7:52 am
